Built in 1970, the John C. and Ruth Stevens wing was added in 1984. The building was renovated, and the C.L. Kay wing was added in 1995. The library is named for Margaret and Herman Brown, who provided a major gift for construction through the Brown Foundation of Houston.
Hours (during regular semesters):
- Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 7 a.m. - midnight
- Wednesday: 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.; 8:30 p.m. - midnight
- Friday: 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Mabee Library Auditorium:
Built in 1970. The small auditorium on the south side of the Herman and Margaret Brown Library was named in recognition of the Mabee Foundation's participation in the funding of the library. Seats 100.
