Grace L. Woodward

Jacob’s Dream was commissioned to honor the generosity of Grace L. Woodward and the Woodward family of Kerrville, Texas.

Bob Woodward, Grace’s son, started the Grace L. Woodward Memorial Endowment Trust in 1998 in honor of his mother, who died in 1997. The $26.5 million bequest was dedicated to Abilene Christian University’s College of Biblical Studies and is one of the 10 largest private gifts in the history of higher education in Texas.

The Woodward family has a long history of philanthropy, often using their resources anonymously to fund churches and children’s homes. Grace’s late husband, Harley, started the Harley Woodward Foundation for Christian Education at ACU in 1939.

“Mrs. Grace Woodward was a humble Christian servant who touched many lives as a Bible teacher for more than 50 years,” said Dr. Royce Money, 10th president of ACU. “We will strive to instill her humble, Christ-like spirit in every student whose life she touches through her family’s magnificent gift.”
